Bikram Yoga Class Descriptions
90 minutes (105°/40%)
All Levels

A system of yoga that Bikram Choudhury synthesized from traditional hatha yoga techniques and popularized beginning in the early 1970s. Classes run exactly 90 minutes and consist of a set series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises, and is ideally practiced in a room heated to 105°F (≈ 40.6°C) with a humidity of 40%.

Practicing the twenty-six postures you will systematically move fresh, oxygenated blood to one hundred percent of your body, to each organ and fiber, helping to restore all systems to healthy working order, just as nature intended.  Proper weight, muscle tone, vibrant good health, and a sense of well being will automatically follow.

Individual weight loss results will vary depending on frequency of your practice and your calorie intake.

Benefits are:

1. Glowing skin.. flush nutrients & oxygen to face and hair follicles of the scalp, giving you a natural ‘face lift’ and healthy glow.
2. Natural anti-depressant.. flushes adrenal glands stimulating the release of endorphins making you feel uplifted.
3. Aids digestion. When you invert, it allows gravity to work in a way that gets things moving along.
4. Improve Immunity.. Inversions help stimulate lymphatic cleansing and drainage, clearing toxins from tissues.
5. Promotes sounder sleep… studies have proven that EMG activity, (a measure of muscle tension) declines by 35% within 10 seconds of inverting. Muscle tension can contribute to feelings of anxiety & insomnia.

Yoga mats required.

Individual results will vary.

This Power Yoga class is done in a warm room (90 degrees) to get you into a fat burning mode quickly. Restorative Yoga - Yoga Nidra

Our Restorative Yoga involves only five or six poses, supported by props that allow you to completely relax and rest. Held for 5 minutes or more, restorative poses include light twists, seated forward folds, and gentle backbends. Most restorative practices are based on the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar.
This class ends with a Yoga Nidra meditation. Yoga nidra, or yogic sleep as it is commonly known, is an immensely powerful meditation technique, and one of the easiest yoga practices to develop and maintain. While the practitioner rests laying down face up comfortably in savasana (corpse pose), this systematic meditation takes you through the pancha maya kosha (five layers of self), leaving you with a sense of wholeness.
Yoga nidra promotes deep rest and relaxation that isn’t found in your average meditation practice. The stages of body scan and breath awareness alone can be practiced to calm the nervous system, leading to less stress and better health.
This entire class is done on the floor and all fitness levels are welcome.
